When the President Saw APC Secretary’s Bombshell to Wike, He Waited to See Fubara’s Next Move-Political analyst Majeed Dahiru

Political analyst Majeed Dahiru has offered fresh insight into the political calculations surrounding the Rivers State crisis, suggesting that President Bola Tinubu deliberately delayed action to observe how Governor Siminalayi Fubara would respond to internal party developments. Dahiru made the remarks in a video shared on Symphoni, where he analyzed the behind-the-scenes dynamics between the presidency, the APC leadership, and key actors in Rivers politics.

According to Dahiru, a major turning point came when the national secretary of the All Progressives Congress issued what he described as a “bombshell” statement directed at former Rivers State governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. He explained that the statement was not made in isolation and was well known at the highest levels of power, including the presidency.

According to him, “Let me tell you, the president waited for many weeks. The president heard when his own secretary of his party issued that bombshell to Wike; he was aware, but why did he wait for this long before acting finally? He was waiting to see what Fubara would do. What are you going to do about this matter?”

Dahiru argued that the president’s silence at the time should not be mistaken for indecision but rather a calculated pause to assess Fubara’s political instincts and leadership capacity. In his view, moments of crisis often serve as tests, revealing whether a leader can seize initiative, build alliances, and act decisively when the balance of power temporarily shifts in their favor.

He added that such waiting games are common in high-level politics, where leaders are judged not only by loyalty but also by courage, strategy, and timing. Dahiru implied that Fubara’s response—or lack of it—may have influenced subsequent decisions taken at the national level, reinforcing the idea that opportunities in politics are fleeting and must be acted upon swiftly or risk being lost.
