I Lost My Soulmate Because I Was focused on financial success — Timini Egbuson expresses regret
Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has opened up about one of the biggest regrets of his life losing a woman he believes was his soulmate during a recent interview with Jay On Air.
Timini reflected on how his intense focus on work and financial success cost him a meaningful relationship. According to the actor, there was nothing fundamentally wrong between them; all she wanted was his presence.
At the time, Timini believed that providing financially was the ultimate expression of love. He expected his partner to understand his absence, driven by the pressure to build a future and “put food on the table.” However, that mindset eventually pushed her away, and she later married someone else someone who could offer what he could not at the time.
“I’m convinced that she was my soulmate,” he said, adding that losing her remains one of his deepest regrets.
The actor explained that while he still believes money is important, he has come to realize that it is only one part of what makes a relationship work.
“Money is just one out of many things that matter,” Timini said.
He emphasized the importance of emotional availability listening, remembering details, being actively present, and showing genuine interest in a partner’s daily experiences. According to him, focusing solely on money can attract the wrong people and even turn the right partner into someone who measures love only by material things.
“If all you can bring to a relationship is money, then you’re a very shallow man,” he stated.
Timini also acknowledged that poor communication and selfishness played a major role in his past relationships. However, he says he has since grown, learning the importance of self-reflection and accountability.
