I Heard Rumours That People Are Coming Here, When You’re Coming Be Prepared Dokubo

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has called for unity among the Ijaw people while speaking during a visit by members of the Ijaw Youth Council at his residence. He used the occasion to endorse their upcoming convention and stress the need for the federal government to ensure that oil-producing communities benefit fairly from crude oil resources.

In a video shared by SYMFONI TV, Dokubo argued that just as people in the North claim ownership of their gold resources, the people of the Niger Delta have the same right to the oil found in their land. He said natural resources should first benefit the regions where they are located, adding that it makes economic sense to site refineries close to where crude oil is produced.

He warned that division among the Ijaw people weakens their collective strength and allows outsiders to take advantage of them. According to him, the Ijaw nation must rediscover its identity and work together to overcome long-standing challenges.

Dokubo also issued a firm warning, saying he had heard rumours of people planning to visit his residence. He cautioned that anyone coming should be well prepared, stressing that he would not tolerate actions that threaten peace or unity.

In his words, “We’re warning, I heard rumours that people are coming here. When you’re coming prepare very well.”
