Six Years After His De@th, Actor Chadwick Boseman’s Brothers Petition Court to Remove His Widow as Administrator of His Estate

A legal battle has erupted over the estate of late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, as his brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, petitioned a Los Angeles court to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, as administrator of his estate.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the brothers alleged that Ledward has failed to distribute Chadwick’s remaining estate assets nearly six years after his d+ath and has continued to exercise “complete control” over the estate without involving the actor’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, who they say are entitled to 25% of the estate.

The petition claims that despite a 2022 court order directing Ledward to distribute estate assets, including a $40,000 Long-Term Care Policy to Carolyn, she has not done so.

Kevin and Derrick also alleged that the estate includes additional assets such as royalties, SAG-AFTRA residual payments, image and intellectual property rights, real estate, a previously undisclosed bank account, and other personal property.

They claimed Ledward’s “lack of transparency creates the appearance that she is concealing assets” from both the Boseman family and the court.

The filing further alleged that Chadwick’s bank account and IRA remain open, while residual payments dating back to 2020 have not been accounted for. The brothers also accused Ledward of retaining sole control over the actor’s image and intellectual property rights, allowing her to “continue to profit from Decedent’s fame.”

They are asking the court to appoint forensic accountant Jason Rubin as the new administrator of the estate.

Chadwick Boseman d+ed in August 2020 at the age of 43 after a private four-year battle with colon cancer. He d+ed without a will, just six days after marrying Ledward, who has not publicly responded to the allegations.
