They Kept Shooting the king, but the Bullets Didn’t Penetrate; He Kept Saying, I Am a King — Daughter

According to a report by the Nigerian Tribune, the daughter of the Alagamo of Agamo, Oba Kehinde Jacob Falodun, has narrated the tragic events surrounding the killing of the traditional ruler after suspected bandits invaded his palace in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The attackers reportedly stormed the palace on Wednesday evening, firing gunshots that caused panic and forced residents of the Agamo community to flee for safety.

Recounting the incident, the monarch’s daughter said her father repeatedly identified himself as a king while the assailants beat him and attempted to abduct him before eventually killing him outside the palace.

According to her, “They just invaded the palace and kept shooting at the king, but the bullets didn’t penetrate. They carried him, but he kept telling them that he was a king. They kept beating him, wanting to take him away.”

She explained that the attackers later used a sharp object on the monarch after lifting him several times and firing sporadically into the air. She added that the king was eventually murdered outside the palace, with blood gushing from his head.

The daughter also revealed that the assailants wore outfits resembling those of Fulani herders, spoke Hausa, and were believed to have entered the community through the Itaogbolu axis.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police Command confirmed the killing, stating that the incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. on February 18, 2026. Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said officers received a distress call later that evening reporting that armed men had taken the monarch from his residence.

Police said the victim was later found a short distance away with gunshot wounds and was confirmed dead at the scene. Tactical teams, alongside Amotekun operatives, local hunters, and vigilantes, have launched a manhunt for the suspects, with surveillance intensified across nearby areas.
