Rivers Crisis: Nyesom Wike Is Feeling The Brunt Because Fubara Is Now An APC Governor - Anjolaiya

In a recent interview on News Central TV, political analyst Olalekan Anjolaiya offered insight into the escalating political tension in Rivers State, where impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy have intensified amid complex party dynamics and legal interventions.

According to Anjolaiya “Nyesom Wike is feeling the brunt because Fubara is now an APC governor,” highlighting the shifting power balance between the former governor and the current administration. Anjolaiya argued that the transition of Fubara into the All Progressives Congress (APC) has significantly weakened Wike’s influence in the state, reshaping the political chessboard in Rivers.

According to Anjolaiya, the impeachment push led by members of the state assembly aligned with Wike reflects an attempt to assert authority and challenge the governor’s newfound political autonomy. He noted that the governor, despite facing legal and legislative pressures, now enjoys backing from key figures in the APC, creating a tension-filled standoff with the former PDP-led establishment.

The analyst emphasized that Rivers State politics has always been highly competitive, with alliances and loyalties shifting based on strategic interests. He warned that prolonged conflict between the governor, his party members, and Wike’s camp could distract from governance and disrupt development initiatives in the state, stressing the need for careful political navigation.

Anjolaiya concluded by urging political actors to prioritize stability and governance over personal ambitions, noting that the stakes are high not just for the parties involved but also for the citizens of Rivers State. He highlighted that the current political dynamics could set precedents for how power transitions and party realignments are handled across the region.
