Fubara:We’re Warning Once More As We ve Seen Assembly Refusal Include Those Of APC To Cooperate -APC
Orange reported that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State voiced worry about efforts to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Ordu on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
The procedure was characterized by the party as a potential legislative coup, and they advised caution.
The Rivers served as the APC’s voice. According to the party, it thoroughly examined the reasons behind the House of Assembly’s impeachment proposal with the aid of the state’s Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju.
APC stated that it was “shocking” that some politicians, including party members, could back measures that may be detrimental to the state’s growth and the party’s objectives.
The party cautioned that the impeachment might cause needless political conflict and pointed out that, even if the 1999 Constitution grants the legislature the authority to impeach, the definition of terms like “gross misconduct” is primarily political and subjective.
The governor and deputy are still accused of having personal opinions, according to the APC, until they are officially proven. Additionally, the party called on the Rivers State Chief Judge to abide by a recent court order.
The APC urged the party’s national leadership to intervene swiftly, saying that honoring the court order was crucial to avoid unneeded political upheaval.
To prevent a crisis that might harm APC’s reputation, the party urged them to follow internal procedures. The party said that immediate steps would help safeguard the health and future of the party at the local level in Rivers State.
“We are warning once again that this is an unnecessary action, as we have seen the refusal from members of the House of Assembly, including those from the APC, to cooperate. Sections 129 and 188 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) clearly grants the Legislature the authority to conduct impeachment, he added.
