Fubara Impeachment:Suspend All Your Lawmaker Involved In This Legislative Rascality Now-Onoh To APC

Denge Josef Onoh, a former presidential spokesman from the South-East, has directed the All Progressives Congress (APC) to immediately suspend all of its lawmakers in Rivers State who are reportedly plotting to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, according to a report that was published by Daily Post on Monday, January 19, 2026. Onoh’s statement was made in response to a report that was published on the same day.

The proposed impeachment was characterised by Onoh as a premeditated assault on democracy and a move that goes against the constitutional order. According to him, the effort is a kind of parliamentary misbehaviour and is self-serving. Onoh also said that the action undermines the constitutional order.

Legislators are alleging that the governor and his deputy neglected to deliver the 2026 Appropriation Bill, which is the basis for the impeachment campaign, which is apparently based on allegations of serious misconduct.

According to Onoh, however, these assertions are without foundation since a budget that has been accepted by the whole country is currently in place and will continue to operate until August 2026 in accordance with past emergency measures.

According to Onoh, this is the third attempt to remove Governor Fubara from office since 2023. He made the observation that this is not the first attempt to remove Governor Fubara from office.

Onoh brought to light the fact that the MPs in question had just switched from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on December 5, 2025. This switch took place only a few days before Governor Fubara himself joined the governing party.

He urged the party to uphold the principles of democracy and to stop any attempts to use legislative positions for personal gain. He also called for immediate action to prevent further political instability in Rivers State. He suggested that the timing demonstrates a coordinated effort to take control of power through ways that are not appropriate.

"The simultaneous targeting of the governor and his deputy reveals a clear agenda to seize power through the back door," the statement reads. Onoh said that "The All Progressives Congress need to suspend all of its legislators who were implicated in this act of parliamentary rascality."
