Wike Faction Wrote To INEC To Suspend Primaries; INEC Ignored It And Supervised In Edo And Osun-Umar Sani
PDP chieftain Umar Sani has cited INEC’s consistent recognition of the Turaki-led National Working Committee as definitive proof of its legitimacy, noting the electoral body ignored the Wike faction’s attempt to stop state primaries.
Speaking on Arise News, Sani revealed that when the Wike faction wrote to INEC requesting suspension of primaries, the commission disregarded the letter and proceeded to supervise governorship primaries in both Edo and Osun States.
According to Sani, INEC’s actions demonstrate clear recognition of where legitimate PDP authority lies, as the commission would not have supervised primaries organized by a faction it considered illegitimate or lacking proper party authorization.
Umar Sani said: “INEC is recognizing the NWC led by Turaki in all fronts. In Edo, they wrote a letter to INEC, wrote a letter to say they have suspended the primaries. INEC ignored it and said no, and they went there and supervised the primaries. And in Osun State, INEC was also there to supervise the governorship primaries in Osun State. That is to tell you where INEC’s recognition lies.”
