As At The Time Administrator Ibas Left, He Kept Over ₩600B In Rivers State’s Account-Amaewhule

The factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, has stated that former state administrator Ibas left the state treasury with more than ₦600 billion at the end of his tenure.

His remarks were made to counter Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s assertions about the financial status of Rivers State, arguing that the prior administration maintained fiscal discipline and did not leave the state in financial distress.

Amaewhule, speaking in a video released by Echo 360 TV, said, “At the time Administrator Ibas handed over, Rivers State had upwards of ₦600 billion in its account.” He stressed that the public deserves the truth rather than narratives shaped by political motives. He noted that the previous administration had built a solid financial platform, which the current government should have utilized.

He further accused Governor Fubara’s administration of seeking to diminish the achievements of its predecessor. Amaewhule insisted that the state’s financial records could substantiate his statement and challenged the governor to present accurate figures instead of making claims that contradict the documented balance left by the former administrator.
