Video: You come from Wike’s bedroom and expel me, between Wike and me who should be thrown out?- Ikenga Imo
Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the representative of Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency in Imo State, has responded strongly to claims of his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the party's local executive in Ideato LGA. The Imo State PDP Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiak, announced that Ugochinyere was expelled for alleged gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities.
However, Ugochinyere has vehemently denied the allegations, labeling the purported expulsion as baseless and politically motivated. In a video shared by Symfoni TV, he dismissed the claims as a smear campaign orchestrated by individuals within the party aligned with the "G-5 group," which had been accused of working against the PDP in the past.
According to Ugochinyere, his so-called offense was his decision to stand up against those he believes are sabotaging the party's progress. He singled out members of the "G-5 group" and their alleged allegiance to Nyesom Wike, former Rivers State Governor and the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as the instigators behind his supposed expulsion.
In his defense, Ugochinyere questioned the legitimacy and motives of the move, stating, "You come from Wike's bedroom and you expel a committed member of the party. Did I work against the party? Did I say I am going to work for APC re-election? Between Wike and me, who is supposed to be thrown out of the party?"
Ugochinyere also highlighted his dedication to the PDP, contrasting his loyalty with the actions of those he claims have caused division within the party. He accused the G-5 group, led by Wike, of undermining the party's unity and contributing to its recent challenges.
The controversy has stirred mixed reactions within the PDP, with some members questioning the timing and procedure of the expulsion. Others see it as a symptom of the broader internal struggles within the party, particularly following its performance in the 2023 general elections.
As the situation unfolds, Ugochinyere remains defiant, insisting on his innocence and loyalty to the PDP while calling for an end to what he described as political witch-hunts within the party.
