Serial Bank R%bber Who Served 10 Years In Prison For R%bbing Banks In ‘Old Man’ Masks Arrested Again For Same Crime a Decade Later

A Florida man who spent more than a decade in prison for r%bbing banks while disguised as an elderly person has been arrested over allegations that he returned to the same crime with a similar mask years later.

David Sartin Jr., 40, from St. Petersburg, was arrested by federal authorities over two alleged bank robberies in Florida, according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.

Sartin allegedly r%bbed a bank in Largo on August 24 and another in his hometown on September 15. During both incidents, he reportedly wore a prosthetic old-man mask and demanded cash without dye packs.

Investigators alleged that before the first r%bbery, Sartin drove around a nearby area, parked his vehicle, switched to a bicycle and rode to the bank. After collecting $2,900, he reportedly told the teller, “until we meet again,” before escaping on the bicycle and later driving away.

He allegedly st%le another $2,554 during the second robbery.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed a vehicle leaving Sartin’s home before the second incident and returning afterward. A man resembling the suspect was also allegedly captured unloading a bicycle.

Investigators later observed Sartin spray-painting the vehicle’s white roof black. Searches of his home and storage unit reportedly uncovered a bicycle, clothing, bags, a fake handg¥n, gloves and disguise materials, including a grey-haired old-man mask and dark-framed glasses allegedly linked to the r%bberies.

At another property where he occasionally stayed, authorities reportedly discovered another prosthetic mask and a 2021 journal titled, “God’s Best friend is a Bank R%bber! Uncle Henry Cops and Robbers the world through the eyes of a Bank R%bber.”

Authorities said he had worn a similar elderly-person disguise during those robberies and used the same getaway vehicle. He was sentenced to slightly more than 10 years in federal prison.
