I’ll promise you, any state Atiku wins, on my honour, You’ll be with me in the Villa—Titi Abubakar

According to a report by The Sun News, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Amina Titi Abubakar, wife of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has called on members of the Atiku Circle Grassroots Movement in the South-East to step up their mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Amina made the appeal in Enugu during the inauguration of the South-East chapter of the political support organisation, where she charged members to take Atiku’s message beyond major urban centres and directly to communities across the region.

Addressing supporters at the event, she described the members of the movement as the grassroots strength of Atiku’s campaign, stressing that their responsibility would be to engage residents, explain the former vice president’s political agenda and build support at the community level.

She urged the supporters to visit villages, markets, streets and other areas where political campaigns may not always receive as much attention as they do in major cities.

Amina also assured members that their efforts would be recognised if Atiku succeeds in securing the presidency in 2027. She suggested that supporters who contribute significantly to his electoral victory would have opportunities to participate in the administration.

She told the gathering that states where Atiku records victory would have a special place in her plans, expressing confidence that the movement’s grassroots efforts could contribute substantially to his electoral performance.

The former vice president’s wife also thanked those behind the establishment of the organisation and encouraged its members to remain committed as political activities leading to the 2027 election intensify.

Speaking at the inauguration, the South-East Coordinator of the Atiku Circle Grassroots Movement, Pastor Chidi Odoemelam, said the organisation was established on the principle that successful political mobilisation must begin with the people at the grassroots.

Odoemelam argued that political support could not be built solely through activities in state capitals and major cities. He therefore encouraged other political support groups to strengthen their presence within local communities.

He also alleged that there had been attempts to prevent the inauguration of the South-East chapter. According to him, members remained determined to proceed because of their belief in Atiku’s political aspirations.

Odoemelam cited some of Atiku’s proposed economic policies, including his position on fuel subsidy, as among the reasons the group believes he should be elected president.

The South-East co-coordinator of the movement, Dr Theodore Odi, also expressed strong support for Atiku, describing him as a politician whose political relationships extend across ethnic and religious lines.

Odi said Atiku’s experience in government and his economic proposals made him, in the group’s assessment, capable of addressing some of Nigeria’s major challenges. He further claimed that some politicians who previously benefited from their association with Atiku had subsequently distanced themselves from him.

Also speaking at the event, the immediate past chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State, Stella Chukwuma, recalled Amina’s role in the establishment of the Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF), which she said contributed to subsequent efforts that led to the establishment of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Chukwuma urged members of the movement to widen their mobilisation efforts by taking the campaign to markets, streets and communities throughout the South-East.
