Amaechi Spent $10M To Fumigate Rivers, Ask Him Whether Mosquitoes Have Stopped Biting Anybody- Wike
Nyesom Wike has questioned former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi over the money spent on fumigating Rivers State, asking whether mosquitoes have stopped biting people after the exercise.
In a video shared by his media aide on X, Wike made the statement while reacting to claims made by Amaechi about his achievements as governor of Rivers State.
According to Wike, the state government spent $10 million on the fumigation exercise with the aim of reducing mosquitoes across Rivers State. He, however, questioned the result of the project, asking whether mosquitoes still bite people in the state.
Wike also criticised Amaechi’s claim that he built primary schools across Rivers State. He said many of the schools were located in riverine areas with very small populations.
He further claimed that some of the schools had become submerged in water, questioning the impact of such projects on the people they were meant to serve.
The FCT Minister’s comments came as he continued to respond to issues raised by Amaechi about his time in office as Rivers State governor.
Wike also referenced other projects and spending from Amaechi’s administration, including the Justice Karibi-Whyte Hospital and the Rivers State monorail.
In his words, “Ask him, the fumigation of Rivers, that they are going to fumigate Rivers State, and there’ll be no mosquitoes, and we spent 10 million dollars, ask him, whether mosquitoes don’t bite anybody. Ask him whether mosquitoes have stopped biting anybody.”
