Akpabio: I Saw Him At The State House, Literally Begging The President To Keep His Position- Epelle
According to a report by Daily Post on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Political commentator Jake Epelle has reminded Senate President Godswill Akpabio that the position he occupies is not a hereditary title that can be passed down or retained as a family possession.
Epelle urged Akpabio and his associates to recognise that the Nigerian Senate operates under democratic principles rather than a monarchical system.
He accused the former Akwa Ibom State governor and those who supported his position of violating the Constitution and disrespecting Nigerians.
The commentator also expressed concern over Akpabio’s alleged appeal to President Bola Tinubu to retain his position as Senate President, questioning the circumstances surrounding the development.
“I saw him at the State House, literally begging the President to keep his position. So, what I am saying is that he is a lawyer,” Epelle said.
He stressed that the Senate presidency should not be treated as a personal entitlement, insisting that constitutional provisions and democratic principles must guide decisions concerning the leadership of the National Assembly.
Epelle’s remarks underscored the importance of respecting constitutional procedures and ensuring that public officeholders remain accountable to Nigerians rather than relying on personal relationships or political influence to maintain their positions.
