The Court of Appeal Ruled That Wike Was Not Qualified and Declared My Petition Meritorious” Awara

According to a video posted on Nevon HQ on Wednesday September 23, 2026, Dr. Biokpomabo Awara said the Court of Appeal found in his favor during his long legal fight over the outcome of the 2019 Rivers State governorship election.

Speaking on Nevon HQ, Awara said the appellate court ruled that his opponent, Nyesom Wike, was not qualified to have contested the election in the first place.

Awara explained that his petition rested heavily on documents he obtained from INEC showing two conflicting pieces of information about his opponent’s date of birth.

He said this evidence, once presented properly, convinced the Court of Appeal that the declared winner should not have been on the ballot, a finding that, in his view, meant all votes cast for that candidate ought to be considered void.

In his words, Awara said, “they ruled in my favor that he was not even qualified for that particular section where I presented evidence of the CTC from INEC that there are two informations about his birth that have been ruled against him, that he was not even qualified to contest the election.

“So if by the ones even the INEC have declared, if he was not qualified, so all his vote are supposed to be null and void.”

Awara said the Court of Appeal also declared his petition meritorious and set aside an earlier tribunal decision that had dismissed his case.

He described the ruling as vindication after months of what he called a manipulated collation process and a rewritten vote count.

However, he said the matter did not end there, as his opponent proceeded to challenge the Court of Appeal’s decision at the Supreme Court, where the outcome would ultimately be reversed.
