Who Will Say That When I Was Gov, He Didn’t Know The Gov Of Rivers? I Was The Only Gov Existent-Wike

According to a report by The Nation on Sunday, August 23, 2026, Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has said the completion of long-delayed infrastructure projects in Abuja is the strongest answer to those questioning the ability of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to deliver meaningful development.

He said the administration’s performance should be judged by projects being completed and delivered to residents.

He said visible project delivery would provide a basis for assessing the administration’s work in the capital, instead of relying solely on political arguments or doubts about its capacity.

The minister made the remarks on Saturday while inspecting construction work on the 14-kilometre Apo-Karshi road project, particularly the Bwari-Kubwa alignment.

Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded on the project, saying the construction had reached a stage that would allow it to be completed and formally handed over in December.

During the inspection, Wike was accompanied by senior officials of the FCT Administration as well as representatives of the contractors handling the road project.

He acknowledged the efforts of those involved in advancing the construction and said the work had continued to move at a satisfactory pace.

Wike also praised the media for its role in reporting and documenting developments on the road project, he noted that the documentation had helped to highlight progress on an infrastructure scheme that had remained unfinished for a long period and had generated controversy over the years.

He said sustained attention remained important because of the project’s previous delays and public interest surrounding its construction and expected benefits.

Responding to doubts and criticisms from political opponents, the FCT minister relied on his previous experience in public office to defend his record and capacity to execute projects.

He argued that his years of involvement in governance had provided sufficient evidence of his ability to manage responsibilities and deliver results.

The minister further recalled his tenure as governor of Rivers State, maintaining that his activities in public service were widely known.

He presented his past role and record as part of the basis for responding to those who continue to question his competence and ability to deliver projects under the current administration.

Who in this country will say that when I was Governor, he didn’t know the Governor of Rivers State? If there’s one Governor that was existent, it was me,” he asserted.
