We’re Going to Work Together to Ensure That All Members of the Rainbow Coalition Are Elected-Ihunwo

In a recent interview on TVC News, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo declared that supporters of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara would work collectively to secure electoral victories for candidates of the Rainbow Coalition in the 2027 general elections.

During the interview, Ihunwo stated, “We are going to work together to ensure that all members of the Rainbow Coalition are elected.” He said the decision reflects Governor Fubara’s directive that his supporters should unite behind the coalition following the reconciliation that ended the political crisis in the state.

According to Ihunwo, the focus of the coalition is to promote peace, strengthen political cooperation, and ensure that its candidates receive widespread support during the next election cycle. He expressed confidence that the coalition would present a united front across Rivers State.

The former council chairman explained that he and other loyalists remain committed to carrying out the governor’s political instructions. He emphasized that loyalty to Governor Fubara requires supporting the direction the governor has chosen for the future of the state.

Ihunwo also maintained that the reconciliation process offers an opportunity for former political rivals to work together in the interest of Rivers people. He argued that unity among political stakeholders would create a more stable environment for governance and development.

He further noted that political differences should not stand in the way of progress, adding that supporters of the governor are prepared to mobilize across their respective communities to advance the objectives of the Rainbow Coalition.
