Following the Osun State governorship election, social media platforms have seen heightened activity, particularly surrounding statements made by political figures regarding the electoral outcomes.
Former Kogi lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye shared a statement on his official X account following the emergence of videos showing chieftains from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his post shared on Sunday, August 16, 2026, Senator Melaye commented on the political developments in the state following the governorship contest between the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and the Accord Party candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
In his statement, Melaye offered a farewell message to the APC leaders, asserting that the party had lost ground in the state.
Melaye wrote on his X account; “34 governors, Senate President and Tinubu defeated. Ancestral state lost”.
The statement highlights the outcome by pointing to the heavy political presence deployed during the campaign period and characterizing the outcome as a significant loss for the ruling party’s regional standing.
