Reactions as Olayinka Shares Photo of Governor Adeleke Presenting Certificate of Return to Wike
In a post his Facebook page on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, announced the visit of the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to Nyesom Wike in Abuja.
The post included photographs of Adeleke presenting his certificate of return to Wike during the meeting, which formed part of the governor’s engagements following his victory in the Osun State governorship election.
Adeleke’s visit to Wike came a few hours after he met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
During the closed-door meeting with the President, the governor presented his certificate of return and expressed appreciation for the conduct of the election in Osun State.
Tinubu had earlier congratulated Adeleke by telephone following the announcement of the election results.
The President described Adeleke’s victory as a reflection of the choice of the people and said the outcome demonstrated the continued strength of democracy.
Adeleke secured re-election in the August 15 governorship election under the platform of the Accord Party, polling 511,067 votes.
He defeated the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner in the early hours of August 16 after the collation of results from across the state.
Olayinka’s post, which contained photographs Wike and Adelek e, has since generated reactions from social media users. Below are screenshots of some of the comments:
