INEC Releases Full List of Rivers Governorship Candidates and Running Mates Ahead of 2027

According to report by The Nation on Saturday, August 29, 2026, he Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the credentials and personal details of candidates nominated by political parties for the 2027 governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers State.

The information, contained in Form EC-9 and displayed at INEC’s office along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, shows that 19 candidates have been cleared to contest the Rivers State governorship election.

The documents provide details including the candidates’ names, ages, political affiliations, educational qualifications and other relevant credentials.

The deputy governorship candidates were also listed for most of the parties, although the EC-9 forms for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and Boot Party (BP) deputies were not available at the time of inspection.

The governorship candidates and their running mates are:

6. ADP: Lawson Angel — Deputy: Azunwena Regina

7. BP: Benjamin Oli — No deputy listed

8. DLA: Warighani Zebulum — Deputy: Joseph Udo

9. NRM: Minaibim Harry — Deputy: Iwedi Ogonda Ada

10. SDP: Azimiku Gidiom — Deputy: Ogochukwu Hekerem

11. PRP: Kiegha Nature Dumale — Deputy: Membere Deborah

12. ZLP: Harry Victor Godwin — Deputy: Agumba Nnamdi

13. APGA: Obu Omangima — Deputy: John-Woke Geraldine

INEC also displayed the particulars of House of Assembly candidates. The PDP, NDC and ADC fielded candidates across all 32 constituencies, while other parties contested fewer seats.

The development provides voters with an opportunity to examine the qualifications and backgrounds of candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
