APC Chairman D+es After Sl¥mping During Reconciliation Meeting in Kogi State
The APC in Kogi State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden de@th of its Ijumu Local Government Area chairman, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon.
Solomon reportedly sl¥mped on Friday during a peace and reconciliation meeting at the Iyara Town Hall. He was given first aid and rushed to a hospital in neighbouring Kabba, where he was pronounced d+ad. The cause of his d+ath had not been ascertained at the time of filing this report.
The meeting, convened by former Ijumu LGA chairman Funsho Olumoko, was aimed at resolving internal disagreements and uniting party stakeholders ahead of future political activities.
The reconciliation effort followed an earlier APC meeting where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo were endorsed for second terms. The meeting, however, reportedly ended in disagreement over local government leadership, leading to a walkout by Solomon and some government officials.
Friday’s meeting brought together political leaders, ward and local government executives, women and youth leaders, and government appointees from the 15 wards in Ijumu.
Solomon’s d+ath has cast uncertainty over the party’s reconciliation efforts in Kogi West ahead of the 2027 elections.
No official statement had been issued by the APC or local authorities at the time of filing.
