Amaechi Said, ‘Atiku Abubakar Is Unelectable, And He Did Not Buy A Form To Become A VP’- Warmate
In a recent interview on Trust TV, on Thursday, August 13, 2026, Daboikibo Warmate, a Rivers State political commentator, discussed the political history of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and his previous positions on the political ambitions of Atiku Abubakar.
Warmate stated, “Amaechi said, ‘Atiku Abubakar is unelectable, and he did not buy a form to become a VP.’” He referenced the statement while discussing the political positions that have previously been taken by prominent figures within Nigeria’s opposition politics.
According to Warmate, Amaechi had previously criticised Atiku’s political prospects and questioned the process through which Atiku became a vice-presidential candidate. He argued that the former governor’s earlier position was significant when considering subsequent political developments.
Warmate further noted that politicians could change their positions as political circumstances evolved. He said statements made during previous political contests should remain part of the public record when assessing the positions politicians take during subsequent elections.
The commentator maintained that the relationship between political interests, alliances and ambitions often changes as elections approach. He said this was particularly relevant in Rivers State, where different political actors were positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Warmate also argued that political statements made by prominent figures could influence public perception and shape debates within political parties. He said voters and political stakeholders should consider the history behind the positions being taken by politicians.
He concluded that Amaechi’s earlier comments about Atiku remained relevant to the ongoing political discussion, particularly as political actors and opposition groups prepare for the 2027 election.
