Adeleke:| Called Him Not Once, Not Twice; He Never Answered My Phone And Didn’t Return My Call-Kukah

Bishop Matthew Kukah has revealed that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke repeatedly tried to reach him before the signing of a peace accord connected to the state’s governorship election, but he was unable to respond to the governor at the time.

Speaking in a video aired by SYMFONI TV, Kukah described how communication between them changed significantly after the peace agreement was signed. According to him, Adeleke began contacting him regularly to report cases of violence and other developments that occurred during the election period.

Kukah said the governor was in touch with him almost daily between the signing of the accord and the Friday that followed, particularly over concerns about security. The arrangement, he explained, created a direct channel of communication involving himself, Governor Adeleke and the Inspector General of Police.

Whenever Adeleke informed him about an incident, Kukah said he would immediately pass the information to the police chief for attention. He recalled one occasion when the governor told him that his Secretary to the State Government had been arrested. After receiving the report, Kukah contacted the IGP, and the official was reportedly released the following day.

The cleric also spoke about another incident involving the arrest of 87 people who were allegedly taken to Abuja. Kukah said Adeleke brought the matter to his attention, prompting him to once again contact the Inspector General of Police to seek an explanation about what had happened.

Despite the tension surrounding the election period, Kukah said he remained available to receive reports from the governor and assist in drawing the attention of relevant security authorities to the incidents.

He remarked, “I called him more than once, but he never picked up or returned my calls. However, after we signed the peace accord in Osun, the governor was in touch with me almost every day reporting incidents of violence.”
