Rotimi Amaechi Is Another Version Of Wike, Almost Polished, But Better Than Wike-Babachir Lawal
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has described former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as a more polished version of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, while sharing his views on Amaechi’s political style and decision to become the ADC vice presidential candidate.
Speaking during an interview on SYMFONI TV, Lawal said he was disappointed that Amaechi accepted to run with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar after previously saying he was not interested in the vice-presidential position.
According to Lawal, he had always regarded Amaechi as a man of integrity who kept his word. He said he believed Amaechi’s personality would make it difficult for him to work effectively in an Atiku-led political environment.
Lawal, however, suggested that Amaechi may have accepted the position because he believes Atiku would serve only one four-year term if elected, giving him a chance to contest for the presidency afterward. He added that Amaechi had discussed the matter with him and understood his concerns.
Despite his disappointment, Lawal said he had nothing personal against the former Rivers governor. He described Amaechi as energetic and positive but questioned his leadership style, saying he could be too brash.
He concluded by comparing Amaechi with Wike, saying the ADC vice presidential candidate is almost another version of the FCT minister but is more polished than him.
In his words, “He’s another version of Wike, almost, polished, but better than Wike.”
