Oyo Abd¥ction: I Call on the United Nations and international human rights organisations to investigate it — Gov Makinde
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has urged the United Nations (UN) and international human rights organisations to investigate the abd¥ction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15.
The governor made the appeal on Monday while addressing the public after receiving the rescued pupils and their teachers at his office in Ibadan.
According to Makinde, the circumstances surrounding the kidn@pping are serious and unusual enough to require an independent international investigation.
He said the incident should not be treated as an ordinary security case, stressing that the facts must be thoroughly examined.
“I call on the appropriate international human rights and accountability mechanisms, including those within the United Nations system, to closely examine the facts surrounding these abd¥ctions,” the governor said.
Makinde maintained that he was making the request in his capacity as the Governor of Oyo State, describing the incident as one that deserves global attention and accountability.
