Jungle Justice: They Mistook Him for Fulani and K+lled Him — Sister Recounts Her Brother’s De@th Over Mistaken Identity
Hannatu Bello, sister of Abdullahi Bello, has recounted the circumstances surrounding the de@th of her younger brother, who was allegedly k+lled after being mistaken for a Fulani man in the Rantiya community of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Speaking on the incident, Hannatu said she received a call through her brother’s phone from a police officer, who informed her that Bello had been found lying unconscious and taken to a hospital in Dadin Kowa.
“I asked the Investigating Police Officer if he was okay, but he told me to come to the hospital. I took our mother with me, and we met him unconscious,” she said.
According to her, the officer explained that police officers on patrol around 3:00 a.m. were alerted by vigilantes that Bello had been att@cked by people who allegedly mistook him for a Fulani man.
Describing what she saw, Hannatu said her brother had sustained severe inj¥ries.
“From what we saw on his body, he was macheted and strangled, with bl%%d coming from his mouth. The IPO asked if the deceased was Fulani. I said no. He was not Fulani. He was my blood brother and we are not Fulani,” she stated.
She condemned the k+lling as inhumane, noting that although her brother had physical features that made him resemble a Fulani man, he was not.
The family appealed to the Plateau State Police Command to carry out a thorough investigation, track the deceased’s phone records, identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.
