I Was Earning N1.5M Monthly, It Was Increased By N30K; How Do You Expect Me To Mange It -Gen Enenche
Major General John Enenche (rtd.) has stated that serving and retired military personnel shop in the same markets as other Nigerians and are affected by the country’s rising cost of living.
In an interview with Arise TV, General Enenche stated that inflation has greatly reduced the value of the money they earn. He said his pension was fixed at about 1.5 million naira several years ago and has increased by only 30,000 naira since then.
Enenche questioned how he was expected to meet his financial responsibilities when the increase was so small despite the sharp rise in prices of goods and other things
In General Enenche’s words: “The rate of inflation has far and far overtaken the economic value of the money we earn. I earn about 1.5 million naira. That was years ago, it was increased with 30 thousand naira only. How do you expect me to manage that money with all my responsibilities”
