Delta Extrajudicial M¥rder: We are not guilty — K+ller police officers tell court

Five dismissed police officers, including prime suspect ASP Usman Nuhu, have pleaded not guilty to charges arising from the alleged extrajudicial k+lling of 28-year-old Warri musician Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known as OG Million.

The former officers were arraigned on Tuesday before the Delta State High Court in Asaba. ASP Nuhu is facing a m¥rder charge, while the other four defendants were charged with negligent acts causing h@rm.

After all five entered not guilty pleas, Justice M. Nduka adjourned the case until July 14, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole (SAN), who is leading the prosecution, said the state is fully prepared for the trial and expressed confidence that justice would be served.

“The defendants have been arraigned and have taken their pleas, as they are entitled to do. They pleaded not guilty, but our case is very straightforward. Nobody has the right to make himself the accuser, the judge and the executioner,” he said.

He described the incident as “abhorrent” and assured the public that the prosecution would handle the case diligently and expeditiously, adding, “We are fully prepared for the trial. I assure the public that justice will be served.”

Ogidi was fatally sh%t on April 26, 2026, at Effurun Main Motor Park in Uvwie Local Government Area after he was allegedly caught attempting to send a parcel containing a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition to a recipient in Sapele.

The sh%%ting, which occurred while his hands were reportedly tied behind his back, was captured in a viral video that sparked widespread public outrage.
