Former Benue State Secretary to the Government, David Salifu, has d+ed after sustaining g¥nshot inj¥ries during an att@ck by suspected b@ndits along the Wukari–Makurdi road.

Salifu, who served as SSG under the administration of former Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam, was also a lecturer at the Federal University, Wukari, Taraba State.

According to reports, Salifu was travelling from Wukari to Makurdi on Thursday when he encountered suspected armed b@ndits who intercepted his vehicle.

The assailants reportedly ordered him to get out of his car and mount a motorcycle. However, after he challenged them, they allegedly opened fire and sh%t him.

Confirming the incident, a close associate of the deceased and the African Democratic Congress’ Benue South senatorial candidate, David Olofu, said Salifu d+ed in the early hours of Friday at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi.

He disclosed that Salifu was initially taken to a hospital in Wukari. Due to the severity of his inj¥ries, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Wukari, reportedly approved an ambulance and a team of doctors to transfer him to Abuja for further treatment. However, he was eventually taken to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi, where he later d+ed.
