19-yr-old Nigerian student jailed for 7 years in the uk over r+bbery and bl@ckmail scheme that included h¥miliating their victims on TikTok

A 19-year-old Nigerian student in the United Kingdom, Oluwatobiloba Akinrinola, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in a r+bbery and bl@ckmail scheme in which victims were allegedly a§§aulted, h¥miliated and forced to dance for TikTok.

According to the BBC, Leicester Crown Court sentenced Akinrinola on Monday, while his co-defendant, 20-year-old Richile Vangu, received an 11-year prison term plus a three-year extended licence period.

The court heard that the pair targeted partygoers at a gathering in North Kilworth, Leicestershire, on November 21, 2025. Victims were thr+atened with a kn+fe, r+bbed of designer items and forced to perform a dance for TikTok while the suspects filmed them.

Vangu, who introduced himself as “Trixta,” allegedly demanded £1,000 from each victim and thr+atened to stab anyone who refused to pay.

Judge Steven Evans said Vangu masterminded the operation and recruited others, including Akinrinola, who was “subservient” to him but played “an essential part” in the crimes.

The court heard that at least eight men were forced into a bedroom, thr+atened with a “zombie-style kn+fe” and r+bbed before some were taken to student accommodation, where they suffered further ab¥se.

Prosecutors said Akinrinola forced victims to perform exercises, including star jumps and high knees, before repeatedly p¥nching them. Vangu was also accused of wh#pping victims with a belt, sh++ting them with a BB g¥n, waxing their faces and thr+atening to c+t off their dreadlocks if they failed to pay.

Describing the abuse as “torture,” Judge Evans said Vangu showed a “complete absence of empathy” for the victims.

Akinrinola was convicted of nine counts of bl@ckmail, four counts of r+bbery and two counts of actual bodily h@rm.

Before sentencing, his parents insisted he was innocent. However, the court convicted him alongside Vangu for their roles in the offences.
