Troops Rescue Five Kidn@p Victims During Forest Operation in Kogi
Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued five kidn@pped victims during an ongoing counter-terrorism operation in Kogi State.
The victims were recovered on 17 June 2026 after troops deployed from Forward Operating Base Oshokoshoko conducted a blocking operation along the Oshokoshoko–Adankolo route within Adankolo Forest. The rescue followed sustained military pressure on t+rrorist hideouts in the area, including recent coordinated ground and air operations targeting criminal enclaves.
During the mission, troops intercepted the five victims who had been abandoned by fleeing t+rrorists as they escaped intensified military offensives. The individuals were found safe but weak after being left behind during the disruption of the t+rrorists’ camp.
The victims were immediately secured, evacuated from the forest, and moved to a safe location for medical attention and stabilization. They were later taken to a military medical facility for further treatment and evaluation.
Military authorities confirmed that preliminary debriefing of the rescued victims is ongoing to gather actionable intelligence that may support continued operations aimed at tracking and neutralizing remaining terrorist elements in the region.
