Rivers: Amaechi Invested Millions In The Monorail; Wike Came To Power & Abandoned It -Dokubo Reveals
In a recent video shared on Facebook on Thursday, June 17, 2026, Niger Delta activist and traditional ruler, Asari Dokubo, spoke about infrastructure development and project continuity in Rivers State, focusing on the state’s monorail project and how successive administrations handle inherited public works.
During the discussion, Dokubo addressed the handling of major infrastructure projects following changes in political leadership, noting that decisions to continue or discontinue such projects often shape public perception of governance and accountability.
Speaking during the video, Dokubo stated, “Amaechi invested millions in the monorail; Wike came to power and abandoned it.” He made the remark while comparing the administrations of Rotimi Amaechi and Nyesom Wike in relation to the Rivers State monorail project.
According to Dokubo, continuity in governance is essential for the success of capital-intensive infrastructure projects, as abandoning them can lead to wasted public funds and incomplete development outcomes.
The activist further emphasized that political transitions should not disrupt long-term development plans, especially projects that require sustained funding and technical execution across multiple years.
Dokubo also noted that infrastructure development should be guided by public interest rather than political rivalry, stressing that citizens ultimately bear the consequences of abandoned or incomplete projects.
He concluded by urging leaders to prioritize continuity and accountability in governance, adding that effective leadership is reflected in the ability to complete and maintain projects that serve the people.
