Atiku Amaechi Ticket Causing Political Tension In The North

A former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Jeremiah Useni Kalgo, has expressed confidence that the newly unveiled Atiku Abubakar–Rotimi Amaechi presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has the capacity to win the 2027 presidential election.

Kalgo had stated that should Amaechi agree to serve as Atiku’s running mate, the alliance would stand a strong chance of securing victory at the polls.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

RT. Hon. AMAECHI has agreed to run as Vice President To Atiku a Finer Vice President himself under the Obasanjo lead Administration.

The remarks come amid growing political realignments and consultations among opposition figures seeking to build a broad coalition capable of challenging the ruling party in the next presidential election.

Amaechi, a former Governor of Rivers State and key figure in Nigeria’s political landscape, contested the presidential primary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 elections. Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 poll, remains one of the country’s most influential opposition leaders.

While a joint ticket has now been established between Atiku and Amaechi christened A+A, political observers believe conversations around possible alliances are likely to intensify as the 2027 election cycle gradually approaches.

Analysts note that any potential partnership between the two politicians would attract significant national attention given their political experience, as many see that happening already; with regional influence, and extensive support networks across the country.

As political activities gather momentum, stakeholders are expected to closely monitor emerging alliances that could shape the contest for Nigeria’s highest office in 2027.
