Akpabio Forgets That I Was A Founding Governor Of APC, And I Was Deputy DG Of Tinubu-Oshiomhole

On Monday, June 15, 2026, the Cable reported that Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North in the National Assembly, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of bias against him, claiming that Akpabio would exclude him from the Senate if he had the power to do so.

Oshiomhole made these statements during an interview on Seun Okinbaloye’s podcast, which was released on Sunday.

During the discussion, the former governor of Edo State indicated that the tensions between him and Akpabio have escalated, asserting that the Senate President’s attitude towards him has become increasingly suspicious and unjust.

He contended that Akpabio seems to have a negative view of him, despite Oshiomhole’s significant contributions to the establishment and success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the election of President Bola Tinubu.

He emphasized that his role within the party’s leadership should not be overlooked.

“Akpabio forgets that I was a founding governor of APC. And I was deputy DG of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign that gave us victory. I am not saying I am responsible for the victory. But I worked for it and I’m happy we got it,” he said.

Oshiomhole further claimed that the Senate President has an irrational fixation on him, suggesting that this perception affects how he is treated in the National Assembly.

He asserted that many senators recognize the tension between them.

“He is paranoid about everything related to me. Everyone in the Senate knows that if Senator Akpabio had his way, he would exclude me from the Senate because he has misguidedly convinced himself that I’m perhaps the devil he knows.”

The former labor leader stressed that despite the alleged animosity, he remains dedicated to his legislative responsibilities and continues to engage actively in Senate activities.

He pointed out that his political achievements and contributions to the ruling party's rise should not be overlooked or undermined due to internal conflicts.

These comments contribute to the ongoing political strife within the upper chamber, underscoring divisions among key figures in the ruling party.
