Wike Felt that Fubara Shouldn’t Have Crossed To APC Because He Didn’t Want To Work With Fubara-Ezeji

Policy and sustainable development expert, Joachim Ezeji, has claimed that Nyesom Wike, the former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, still seeks to hold significant political influence in Rivers State despite his departure from the governor’s position.

In an interview on Signature TV, Ezeji mentioned that Wike aims to establish a political framework akin to Lagos State, where one dominant political figure has a substantial impact on state affairs. He stated that Wike’s political approach seems to align with the goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ezeji pointed out that even though Wike has not formally affiliated with the All Progressives Congress, a significant number of his supporters have transitioned to the party and currently hold key roles in Rivers State.

He further asserted that Wike is dissatisfied with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s decision to join the APC because he no longer wishes to collaborate with him politically.

Ezeji expressed that Wike ought to permit Rivers State to advance independently since his term as governor has concluded. Moreover, he emphasized that the former governor still seeks to influence crucial political choices in the state and dictate political developments in Rivers.

He stated, “He believed that the governor should not have switched parties because he did not want to collaborate with the governor anymore. But what interest does Wike have in Rivers State? His tenure as governor is already over.”
