Fubara speaks on ‘defecting from APC’
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state has dismissed reports claiming he has defected to the National Democratic Congress, insisting that he remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, Siminalayi Fubara said the reports were false and stemmed from misinformation circulating on social media and in sections of the press.
He stressed that nothing had changed regarding his political affiliation, urging the public to disregard speculation being spread online.
“I know there’s been a lot of drama in the media, one story and another. I’m a member of the All Progressives Congress, and nothing has changed,” he said.
Fubara cautioned against the spread of unverified claims, adding that public commentary should be based on confirmed facts rather than assumptions or social media interpretations.
He also urged Nigerians to avoid misrepresenting his position based on rumours.
“People should stop using whatever situation that they pick up from social media or their own interpretation of any situation to present me wrongly,” he said.
Reaffirming his stance, the governor maintained that he remains firmly in the APC.
“I have not gone anywhere. I’m still a member of the All Progressives Congress, and I remain a member,” he added.
Fubara further called for unity within the party, stressing that political engagement should be guided by collective interest rather than division or speculation.
