The incident reportedly occurred as both leaders were entering a conference venue where discussions covered major geopolitical issues, including Taiwan, trade relations, and broader Middle East stability. Video from the event showed Xi and Trump ascending steps toward the building when they suddenly slowed and paused. In the footage, Xi appeared to place a guiding hand on Trump’s back as the pair momentarily halted before continuing indoors.

Observers online interpreted the pause in different ways, with some suggesting it may have been a courteous gesture during a formal visit, while others speculated it allowed Trump to regain composure during the climb. No official statement has confirmed any health-related concern, and the moment has not been formally addressed by either delegation.
