The Anambra State Government has introduced mandatory campaign permit fees for political parties and candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Awka, ANSAA Assistant General Manager, Engr. Chika Ngobili, said presidential candidates will pay ₦50 million for campaign permits, senatorial candidates ₦20 million, House of Representatives candidates ₦5 million, State Assembly candidates ₦1.5 million, local government chairmanship candidates ₦2.5 million, and councillorship candidates ₦100,000.
He said the permits cover rallies, posters, banners, branded vehicles, public address systems, flyers, campaign booths, T-shirts, caps and other outdoor promotional materials.
Ngobili stated: “We hereby formally notify all political parties and candidates participating in the 2027 general elections in Anambra State of the mandatory requirement to obtain campaign permits from ANSAA before commencing campaign activities.”
According to him, the policy is designed to ensure orderliness, protect public infrastructure, prevent visual pollution and guarantee fairness in access to advertising spaces.
He also warned against defacing opponents’ campaign materials, saying such actions are unlawful, and added that the electioneering process “should not be seen as a do-or-d+e affair.”
