There Is Still Room For Defectors To Come Back, Whatever That Is Due To Them, They’ll Still’ve It-Wike
According to a report by Premium Times on Monday, April 20, 2026, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party, has stated that there is still an open opportunity for members who previously left the party to return.
He made the remarks during a high-level party gathering where leaders discussed internal unity and ongoing efforts to address divisions within the party structure.
The statement was made on Monday during the 108th National Executive Committee meeting of the party, which took place at Wadata Plaza, the national secretariat of the PDP in Abuja.
The meeting brought together senior party officials, members of the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, and other key stakeholders.
Discussions at the meeting focused on reconciliation, restructuring, and efforts to strengthen the party following periods of internal disagreement and political tension.
During the session, Wike encouraged the party leadership to continue engaging in reconciliation processes aimed at bringing back aggrieved members.
He stressed that efforts should not be limited to maintaining existing members alone but should also include outreach to those who had left due to dissatisfaction or unresolved disputes.
According to him, rebuilding trust within the party requires consistent engagement and willingness to accommodate returning members without discrimination or exclusion.
He also emphasized that individuals who choose to return to the party should not be denied what is due to them within the party structure.
This includes recognition of their previous contributions and entitlements where applicable.
His remarks reflected a broader call for inclusiveness and unity, with the aim of reducing internal divisions that have affected the party’s cohesion in recent times.
The message was directed at encouraging a more welcoming approach to reconciliation efforts being undertaken by the party leadership.
He said, “There is still room for them to come back, and whatever that is due to them, they will still have it.”
