Onochie Reacts To The Answer Atiku Gave Interviewer Who Asked If He Has Wealth To Challenge Tinubu

According to Lauretta Onochie, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), she reacted on Thursday, April 16, 2026, via her official X account to comments made by Atiku Abubakar regarding his financial capacity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Her reaction followed a viral video in which Atiku Abubakar was asked whether he possesses the financial strength to compete with Bola Tinubu. In response, the former Vice President acknowledged that he does not consider himself extremely wealthy but expressed contentment with his current financial standing.

Speaking in the interview, Atiku stated, “I won’t say I am a very wealthy man but I am comfortable. I don’t have the wealth but the power of the people is there.” His response appeared to emphasize reliance on public support rather than personal financial resources as a key factor in political competition.

Reacting to the statement, Onochie described his response as commendable. Taking to her X account, she wrote, “Great answer from our leader,” signaling her approval and support for his position.

The exchange has drawn attention online, as discussions around campaign financing and political influence continue to shape conversations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election. Atiku’s remarks highlight an argument often made in democratic settings—that electoral success can be driven by grassroots support rather than solely by financial capability.

Onochie’s endorsement further reflects internal party alignment and support for Atiku’s perspective within the ADC, as political figures continue to position themselves and their allies in anticipation of future electoral contests.
