If God Wanted Peter Obi To Be President Today, He Would Have Been - Yul Edochie Replies Dino Melaye

Nollywood actor-turned-politician Yul Edochie has reacted to recent remarks made by former Kogi West senator Dino Melaye, sparking fresh debate across social media platforms.

In a post shared online, Edochie cautioned Melaye against making statements he suggested could be seen as overstepping, emphasizing that political outcomes are ultimately determined by divine will. He argued that human opinions or declarations cannot override what he described as God’s plan for leadership.

Referencing the outcome of Nigeria’s last presidential election, Edochie stated that if Peter Obi had been destined to become president, it would have already happened. According to him, the current administration led by Bola Ahmed Tinubu reflects what he believes to be divinely ordained leadership.

He further urged restraint in political commentary, warning against statements that could be interpreted as hostile or harmful. Edochie stressed that expressing ill will toward others, particularly in the political space, could carry unintended consequences, adding that such remarks are better avoided.

The exchange has since triggered mixed reactions online, with many users debating the role of religion in political discourse, as well as the tone adopted by public figures when addressing national issues. While some supported Edochie’s perspective on faith and leadership, others criticized the blending of religious interpretations with political matters.

As of the time this report was filed, Melaye had not publicly responded to the remarks.
