20-yr-old dr¥g suspect bags 15 years imprisonment for att@cking NDLEA operative
A 20-year-old man, Muhammad Maharazu, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted for drug-related offences and attempting to vi%lently resist arrest in Kano State.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Command, secured the conviction at the Federal High Court in Kano. Justice S.M. Shuaibu delivered the ruling on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, ordering that the sentence take immediate effect with no option of a fine.
Maharazu was arrested on February 14, 2026, during an NDLEA operation at Filin Idi, an area described as a known dr¥g hotspot in Kano. During the operation, he allegedly pulled out a long kn+fe and tried to att@ck operatives in an attempt to evade arrest.
He was eventually overpowered, disarmed, and taken into custody before being charged to court.
Reacting to the judgment, the Commander of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, DY Lawal, commended the court for the decision, describing it as firm and reassuring.
