Wike Who Destroyed PDP is Threatening APC Governors. Maybe He Think Other States Are Like Rivers-Ossai Success Ovie
Ossai Success Ovie, Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, has reacted strongly to recent remarks by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, criticising his comments about governors who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
In a Facebook post on Monday, March 30, 2026, Ovie described Wike’s position as contradictory, noting that the minister currently serves in an APC-led administration despite his roots in the PDP.
He argued that it was inappropriate for Wike to threaten or criticise governors who made similar political decisions, insisting that such remarks were disappointing and lacked consistency.
He also dismissed comparisons with Rivers State politics, stressing that political realities differ across states.
Ovie wrote, “Wike has the effrontery to be threatening Governors who defected from the PDP to the APC. Yet the same man is a minister under an APC government. The same Wike who destroyed the PDP Is threatening APC Governors. Maybe he think other states are like Rivers State. This is laughable and i am highly disappointed.”
Ovie’s reaction followed statements made by Wike at a factional PDP national convention reported by Premium Times.
At the event, Wike condemned governors who left the party, describing their defection as evidence of weak leadership, lack of courage, and failure to manage internal crises.
He maintained that true leadership requires resilience, especially during turbulent periods, and argued that those who exited the party abandoned their responsibility at a critical time.
The minister also declared that loyal members of the PDP would work to reclaim what he termed their mandate from defectors, signalling a renewed political push at the state level.
He urged party faithful across several states to remain committed and mobilised, emphasising the need to strengthen the party’s structure after what he described as a period of severe internal disruption.
Several governors, including Sheriff Oborevwori, Umo Eno, Peter Mbah, Douye Diri, Agbu Kefas, Caleb Mutfwang, Dauda Lawal, Siminalayi Fubara and Umaru Fintiri, were among those who left the PDP for the APC, further weakening the opposition party’s structure.
Despite the defections, Wike expressed optimism about the PDP’s future, stating that the party had overcome a major leadership crisis and was entering a phase of recovery.
He credited grassroots supporters for remaining loyal and described them as central to the party’s survival.
He also called for unity, inclusiveness, and renewed commitment among members, urging former stakeholders to return and contribute to rebuilding efforts.
