Wike Doesn’t Attend Our APC Meetings At All; If He Decides To Destroy PDP, That’s His Business-Aliyu

A senior figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), Faruk Adamu Aliyu, has addressed ongoing discussions surrounding the political role of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, amid evolving alliances in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Aliyu made the remarks during an interview on Arise News, where he responded to questions about Wike’s position in the current administration despite his longstanding association with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His comments come at a time when political observers continue to analyze shifting loyalties and cross-party collaborations ahead of future elections.

Speaking on the issue, Aliyu noted that Nigeria’s political history is not unfamiliar with situations where individuals serve in governments that differ from their party affiliations.

He explained that such arrangements should be understood within the broader context of the country’s political evolution, rather than viewed as entirely unprecedented.

According to him, Wike’s role in the present administration does not represent a new phenomenon, as similar instances have occurred in the past. He suggested that political dynamics in Nigeria often allow for flexibility, particularly when it comes to governance and coalition-building.

Aliyu also sought to clarify the relationship between Wike and the APC, emphasizing that the party maintains a clear boundary regarding its internal operations. He stated that Wike is not involved in the party’s activities, nor does he participate in its meetings or decision-making processes.

He stressed that discussions within the APC are restricted to its members and leadership, adding that the party does not engage Wike on its internal matters.

This distinction, he said, underscores the party’s effort to maintain organizational discipline despite the complexities of Nigeria’s political environment.

Addressing speculations about Wike’s influence on opposition politics, Aliyu dismissed suggestions that the APC is involved in any effort to weaken rival parties.

He maintained that the party has not encouraged or directed Wike to take actions against the PDP or any other political group.

In his words, any political moves made by Wike in relation to his party remain his personal responsibility. Aliyu emphasized that the APC is focused on its own agenda and governance priorities, rather than interfering in the affairs of other parties.
