Who Are These Little Fellows Who Are Trying To Cause Trouble That We’ll Have Only One Party - George

Chief Olabode George, a senior member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, has issued a sharp critique of the faction aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, accusing them of undermining the party’s prospects for the 2027 presidential election.

In an interview with Arise TV, Chief George suggested that certain elements within the party are acting against the broader interests of the PDP and, by extension, Nigeria’s democratic system.

“Who are these little fellows who are trying to cause trouble that we will have only one political party in Nigeria to run an election? It is worse than an infidel in infidelity. That we will not accept. Those of our people who are planning to run, we will make sure they have a platform to run on. What is it that they want? As we are talking with them, they are doing congresses. Congresses for who and for what? They don’t want to listen to the discussion that is going on,” Chief George said, emphasizing his opposition to any internal moves that could restrict the party’s ability to present a presidential candidate.

The PDP elder framed his comments within a larger narrative of Nigeria’s historic role in advancing democracy both domestically and across the African continent.

He highlighted the nation’s pivotal contributions to global struggles against oppression, citing Nigeria’s support for the liberation of Nelson Mandela in South Africa and its efforts to end military rule in various countries.

Chief George also pointed to Nigeria’s longstanding involvement in peacekeeping and democratic stabilization missions, including interventions in Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, and Somalia.

According to him, these actions reflect a nation that has consistently “stood on the right side of history,” underlining his belief that the PDP, as one of Nigeria’s major political parties, should continue to uphold democratic principles rather than allow internal divisions to dictate the country’s political direction.

By linking the internal party dispute to Nigeria’s broader legacy, Chief George framed the ongoing tensions not merely as political maneuvering but as a challenge to the country’s democratic identity.

His remarks signal both a warning to the Wike-aligned faction and a reaffirmation of the PDP leadership’s commitment to ensuring that the party maintains a credible platform for its candidates in upcoming elections.
