Mankinde: Nyesom Wike Is The Nat’l Leader Of The Mainstream PDP; He’s Not A Factional Leader-Amah Abraham
In a recent interview on Arise TV, the Abia State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amah Abraham, addressed ongoing concerns about internal leadership disputes, factional narratives, and the party’s preparations for its upcoming national convention.
Abraham used the opportunity to reassure party members and the public that the PDP has made significant progress in resolving its internal challenges. He explained that recent legal rulings and adherence to the party’s constitution have helped clarify the leadership structure, dismissing claims that the party remains deeply divided. According to him, the PDP is now operating under a recognized and unified mainstream leadership.
Defending the role of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Abraham stated, “Nyesom Wike is the national leader of the mainstream PDP; he is not a factional leader”. He emphasized that leadership positions within the party should be understood based on legal recognition and constitutional processes, rather than informal labels or political narratives.
He further noted that the party has moved beyond its crisis phase and is now focused on rebuilding unity and strengthening its internal systems. Committees, he said, are actively working to ensure that the forthcoming national convention is credible, transparent, and in line with both the party’s constitution and Nigeria’s electoral laws.
Abraham also highlighted ongoing reconciliation efforts within the PDP, stressing that the party remains open and inclusive to all members. He acknowledged that disagreements are a natural part of political organizations but maintained that such differences should be addressed through dialogue and structured engagement.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to stability, cohesion, and strategic planning. He noted that the party’s priority is to consolidate its structure, resolve any remaining issues internally, and position itself effectively for future elections.
