Atiku’s Aide Reacts As Tweet Of Fani-Kayode Saying Tinubu is Closer To 100 Years Resurfaces Online
Paul Ibe, the Special Adviser on Media to former Vice President Alhaji Waziri Atiku, has responded after a past tweet by former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu resurfaced online. Ibe addressed the matter in a post on his official X account on Sunday, March 28, 2026.
The resurfaced tweet from Fani-Kayode, which appeared on President Tinubu’s 74th birthday, targeted the President’s age, drawing renewed attention from social media users. In his response, Paul Ibe contextualized the criticism, noting that both Fani-Kayode and political commentator Reno Omokri have previously made multiple public statements about President Tinubu.
Ibe further suggested that some of these public remarks may have been indirectly addressed through strategic presidential appointments. In his post, he wrote:
“There are insinuations that you paid them back in their own coin by nominating them to choice ambassadorial postings even though you knew that they would be rejected.”
Through this statement, Ibe appeared to imply that the President has subtly countered critics by offering symbolic gestures—such as high-profile appointments—while remaining confident that the nominations would not succeed, effectively neutralizing any potential advantage or public attention critics might have sought.
This reaction has sparked conversations about political strategy and how leaders respond to public criticism, particularly from prominent figures with long-standing political influence. It also highlights the ongoing dynamics of political commentary in Nigeria, where public statements by former officials often reemerge and influence contemporary discourse.
