Video:They Say PDP Won Gwagwalada, Which PDP Are We Talking About? Is It Not The Same Wike’s PDP?-Abdullahi
The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Bolaji Abdullahi, has described the recent Federal Capital Territory election as distinct from a general election, alleging political maneuvering behind the results.
Speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Abdullahi suggested that the poll was used to project a narrative: “The general election is a different ballgame entirely. So they know what they have done. They know why they have done it, because they needed to prove a point.”
He questioned the identity and structure of the Peoples Democratic Party referenced in post-election discussions: “They say PDP won Gwagwalada. But which PDP are we talking about? Is it not the same Wike’s PDP? But they needed to create the impression that despite it being in disarray, PDP can actually do better than ADC. We’re not falling for that. It’s not bothering us at all.”
During the interview, he was asked about claims that the ruling party’s performance in the FCT could be linked to developmental strides under President Bola Tinubu.
The question referenced arguments that the administration’s impact on the FCT may have influenced voter decisions and whether the results reflected the will of those who voted.
Responding, Abdullahi refrained from dismissing the possibility outright but maintained his focus on alleged flaws in the process: “Well, I’m not going to sit here to say, oh, that was not what happened. No. I’m only pointing out the irregularities.”
He reiterated that the party’s concern centers on the integrity of the electoral process rather than comparative party performance.
