Fubara Days Can Also Be Said To Be Numbered, APC Has Put It That There’s No Automatic Ticket-Iroegbu

Following the impeachment notice made against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Dickson Iroegbu has commented on the political turmoil that is now tearing apart Rivers State. The political protection he is now experiencing at the federal level, he believes, is a result of the governor’s recent move toward the APC.

On Arise TV, Iroegbu contends that in many cases, aligning with the ruling party, particularly when the president’s influence is at play, provides short-term security. But he asserts that this protection is not assured to last and is primarily benefiting Fubara’s own political ambitions rather than enhancing governance in Rivers State.

He claims that the continuing power struggle between political leaders has had a detrimental impact on the populace since governance and development have been given less priority. He voiced worry that politicians are preoccupied with protecting themselves while everyday citizens continue to experience hardship.

By weakening the party that helped build his political career, former governor Nyesom Wike may have harmed his own political prospects, Iroegbu cautioned. Wike was advised to immediately reconsider his political course since, according to him, a politician can lose long-term support if they destroy their political base.

Iroegbu highlighted that membership in the APC does not ensure political victory while discussing Fubara’s future. Fubara’s long-term standing is questionable, he said, since the party has made it plain that there will be no automatic tickets for new members.

Fubara, in his own words, might be said to have counted his days because APC has made it clear that anyone joining their camp is not guaranteed an automatic ticket.
